Emergency Syrian Refugee Food Drive
Donation protected
As of December 11, 2014, the UN World Food Program ("WFP") has ceased food aid distributions to the 4.2 million Syrians ravaged by war due to a shortfall in funding. Nearly two million Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Iraq and Egypt are among those affected by WFP’s decision to scale back assistance. This crisis is aggravated by a lack of access to alternate food sources and by harsh winter conditions that have swept the region.
Since last summer, Salaam Cultural Museum ("SCM") has led an ongoing fundraising initiative. With the contributions of generous donors, SCM supports displaced Syrians in need. A donation of $31 provides a family of five with basic staples (flour, sugar, cooking oil, pasta and rice) FOR A MONTH. Even the most modest donations can alleviate suffering among those caught in dire conditions.
My personal mission is to raise at least $3,100 for SCM this winter. By meeting this goal, 100 families will have access to food staples for an entire month. In units of $3000, money is wired over to coordinated personnels in Jordan charged with distributing food packages in refugee camps and neighboring communities.
So, what did you last spend $31 on?
If you can spare the cost of a dinner out, a manicure or a new top, I encourage you to join me as I work towards my goal.
Click the "Donate Now" button to the right, enter your generous donation with your E-mail for confirmation of donation. You can also kindly share the post to spread the cause.
Thank you all for your contributions and support!
God bless,
Farah
