Emma’s Everglow

My big sister Emma was always such a happy, fun girl to be around. Always making it her mission to make everyone laugh.
Sadly our beautiful Emma passed away on the 6th May this year, 27 years old. On the 6th October 2022, Emma was 26 and was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called Ewings Sarcoma, one in a million chance of getting this diagnosis.
Emma has always lived her life full of fun and when Emma got diagnosed she made sure she continued to live a fun life, full of laughter and never complained, she got on with it and never let it get her down. The cancer started in her left knee but unfortunately it had already spread to her lungs before she was diagnosed. And so, her treatment started - intense chemo treatments, radiation, surgeries. 5 different types of chemotherapies every 3 weeks, in-patient in St. Annes ward in St. Vincents University hospital where she spent lots of days and nights in the care of the lovely nurses and doctors.
By July 2023, Emma was doing great, the cancer was nearly gone. We celebrated no more chemo but unfortunately a scan later that month showed a new tumour in her lung and not long after that the cancer spread to her brain which required immediate brain surgery. After the brain surgery, it then spread to her hips, spine, rib, shoulder, liver, skull and in January 2024, it spread to her eye. The cancer was extremely aggressive and on the 6th May this year, our beautiful Emma passed away.
We are organising a fundraising table quiz night on the 25th September 2024. We really want to make it fun- a night to remember Emma for the way she lived her life.
The date is so close to our hearts because it would have been Emma's 28th birthday. We think this could be a good way to celebrate her life and at the same time give back to St. Annes Ward in St. Vincents University Hospital as they took such good care of her during her 18 months of treatment.
The rooms in St. Annes are extremely warm for the patients and windows are sealed due to the risk of infections. We want to get dyson fans for each room in the ward (16) so the patients going through treatment can be a little bit more comfortable during their stay.
We would be so grateful if you could help us in making this happen. All proceeds will go to St. Anne’s ward, St. Vincent’s University Hospital.
