Engari Community Libray in Uganda!
Donation protected
Greetings All! My name is Kendra Smith and I am a Peace Corps Volunteer living in a rural village in Southwestern Uganda called Omungari or Engari for short. My Ugandan supervisor once told me that the way to hide information in Africa is by putting it in a book. Ever since hearing that I knew that I wanted to help develop a library and increase literacy in my village. I am in the process of getting a community library built out of recycled plastic bottles but will be short on funds to supply the library with books. Which is pretty much the whole point! So I'm trying to raise money to buy books and to help pay for a shipment of books being sent from America to Uganda. Any type of donation would be most wonderful and help this amazing community become more literate together! I put a limit of $1000 but the more the better! If you have books and would like to send them to me directly please send them to the address below:

I am looking for all different types of books (children, young adult, informative, enjoyment, etc) although children are the target audience especially in terms of generating interest in books. Although dictionaries, encylopedias, wildlife books, world history books, maps, coloring books, etc. All are most welcome!
Wabare Munonga!! Thank you very much!!
The group photo is of some of the secondary school students that I brought to a youth empowerment and leardship camp. These students are amazing and want to go far in life but have limited access to resources that can help them do so and this includes books.
