Eric’s fight against cancer

Hi, my name is Hailey and I started this fundraiser for two of the most amazing and selfless people I know.

Eric was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. Him and Sunni have been married for just over a year and they were just getting ready to make big plans for their future.

To start from the beginning Sunni was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at age 24. The treatment for Crohn's has many side effects so she decided to try and hold off as long as she could. Recently her and Eric decided they were ready to start planning a family. Sunni decided it was time to begin her journey in healing her body to ensure she could carry a healthy baby.

Just a couple weeks later they received news that would change everything. Eric has been diagnosed with colon cancer at 34 years old. To say that they are devastated is an understatement. Their world has been flipped upside down. Instead of planning a beautiful future, all of their efforts will be focused on saving his life. Eric lost his own father to cancer at age 32 so you can imagine how scary this news is.

The last couple of weeks have been filled with scans and tests now surgery has been scheduled for October 11th to remove the cancerous section of Erics colon. He will be in hospital for several days. His surgery will require 2 months of recovery in which Eric will be out of work. If you know Eric you know how hard this will be for him. After recovery they will start chemotherapy.

Unfortunately, when he does go through chemo the only chance of Eric and Sunni having a family in the future will be through IVF as chemo does too much damage. Without any insurance coverage this could be the most expensive part of their whole journey. I'm sure we can all understand that on top of their emotional heartache they now face a huge financial burden. This GoFundMe is set up to hopefully relieve some of that burden so they can focus on fighting. Donations will go towards the costs of testing, surgery, hospital stay, chemo, lost wages, and if they are lucky enough IVF.
