Erica's fight against cancer

Last year our best friend Erica was diagnosed with bowel and breast cancer.
Despite having had to endure extensive chemotherapy, radiotherapy and numerous operations, including a completely life changing operation , Erica was last week given the devastating news that her cancer had not responded to the treatment as was hoped and that the cancer had both recurred and spread.
Erica is now set to endure another 9 weeks of chemotherapy. However, Erica has been told that the chemotherapy itself will not cure her cancer; it is palliative chemotherapy only and its purpose is to try to shrink the tumours and to make Erica more comfortable.

Erica has a beautiful little girl Ella, who is only two years old. The life of her loving and supportive partner Gary, and that of Erica’s family, have been turned upside down overnight.
Having received several second opinions, Erica has now been advised that there are other potentially life-saving treatments which she may be eligible for following her course of chemotherapy. These treatments include immunotherapy and/or gene sequencing. We are also in the process of speaking with international therapy providers, which have all said they can offer alternative treatments to try to save Erica’s life. However, any further treatment that Erica will need to receive will be costly and medical bills will likely run into tens of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of pounds.
As close friends of Erica, we have set up this fundraising site, to help raise the money Erica will so desperately need for life-saving treatments. At this moment in time, we are still exploring and investigating further medical treatments available, however Erica will need the financial support to continue with her life-saving treatment immediately after her 9 week course of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, due to the extremely aggressive nature of Erica’s cancer, time is not on her side.
To lose our beloved Erica and to let her precious little Ella grow up without her mummy is not an option for us. We need to give Ella as much time with her mummy as possible and for Erica, the chance to see her little girl grow up, as every mother should be able to do. It is for these reasons, that we must ask you for help and save our friend!
