Medical Expenses 4 Evan Strickland
Donation protected
Evan, 14, is an exceptional athlete and student. This past summer was supposed to be one of his best. He was looking forward to starting high school and finally playing football with the big boys. All that changed in May when the lymph nodes in his neck began swelling up. After many clinical visits he was finally admitted into UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital where they diagnoised him with a very rare genetic immune disease called Chronic Granulomatous Disease. His body is unable to fight off certain bacteria and fungus. Evan is currently having to give himself shots 3 times a week, has a picc line in his arm that requires him to carry around a bag with medication 24/7 and must also take several pills daily. He is recently had his 4th surgery in the last 3 months. He has been admitted into the hospital five times in the last 4 months and we are required to get check ups several times a month. All this is in San Francisco, a 3 hour drive from home, and his mother has used up all her paid time off, travel expenses and copays are all beginning to take a toll. I would not normally ask for help but at this point, Im not sure what else to do. If you are able to donate, awesome, if not if you could share and spread the word that would be awesome as well. Which ever you are able to do, from the bottom of our hearts, IT IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!! Thank you! The Strickland Family
