Small Business Grant Fund | Your $5 Minimum Donation Will Help Raise $10,000,000 for African American Small Businesses in California
"The African American small business owner will be the most overlooked of all businesses who have been impacted or have taken a hit by the COVID-19 crisis."
- Jay King, Pres/CEO Ca Black Chamber of Commerce
Prior to the Corona virus pandemic shut down, a wealth of information and statistics demonstrate the difficulties that entrepreneurs of color face when it comes to receiving business funding.
Did you know - black business owners are still being denied business loans from banks despite having good credit scores and showing consistent annual profits?
Did you know - black owned businesses receive lower loan amounts at higher interest rates than non-minorities and as a result are forced to leverage more of their personal cash to run their business often leaving their households strapped
Did you know - more than 95% of black owned businesses in the United States are mostly sole proprietorships with no paid employees and have fewer employees than the average small business owner?
Did you know about 4 in 10 black owned businesses operate and essential areas such as healthcare, social assistance, and other services such as repair, maintenance, personal and laundry service sectors?
Did you know - having the capital to spend on essential items such as staff, equipment, advertising, expansion and technology is out of reach for most black owned businesses?
Did you know - without enough capital, it's tough for any business to invest its future?
Did you know - there are 2.3 million African-Americans in the state of California and if we each gave just $5 we could raise over 10 million dollars to be distributed to the African American small business community?
With these pre-existing obstacles, African American small businesses don't have the same chance of surviving through this pandemic and they need our help, fast.
From food services and media, to healthcare workers, barbering and cosmetology. These businesses represent the direct revenue that in some cases sustain their families putting food on the table and keeping a roof over their heads from month to month.
The California Black Chamber of Commerce is not able to do this alone. We are living in a very unique day and age where no one should be left behind. Collectively, with a minimum contribution of $5 each, we can successfully get them through this crisis. Help us keep our California African American small black businesses alive.
