- Hi, my name is Stephanie Rader. I am a close family friend of Lindsay and Matt. Evangeline (Evie), Matt and Lindsay's daughter, was diagnosed with influenza A on Tuesday 12/13/22. Within 24 hours Evie's symptoms became concerning and Lindsay took her to the Emergency Room on Wednesday 12/14/22 in Fort Wayne. Evie was unable to stand or stay awake by the time the ER was able to get her a room. While in the ER she suffered from a seizure. Her condition was critical and she was to be airlifted to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Indy. The weather did not permit the airlift and they had to wait for a critical care unit to accompany Evie in the ambulance. Upon arrival at Peyton Manning hospital, it was discovered that Evie had a massive stroke. Yes, this sweet almost 4-year-old baby had a stroke. They performed emergency brain surgery removing a piece of her skull to combat the swelling in her brain. The doctors have confirmed some brain damage but cannot know the extent of it yet. The doctors have Evie stable while in critical condition. There are still a lot of unanswered questions as to what caused the stroke and what is to be expected in the next few weeks. Everything escalated quickly and Evie's care team is diligently trying to find answers. Evie will need to be monitored in the hospital for 6-8 weeks just for the swelling aspect alone as they try to return skill bone flaps in that timeframe. Please keep Evie, Lindsay and Matt in your hearts and prayers.
Matt is the sole provider for their family. My goal is to raise money for their monthly expenses as well as all the expenses they will incur while staying in Indy- food, shelter, etc. Our goal is for both Matt and Lindsay to financially be able to stay the entire 8 weeks in Indy without having to worry about everyday life expenses. If you haven't had the luxury of meeting Evie she is the light in a dark room. This little wildflower is so loved by so many. She loves her stuffed animals, dolls, and blankies. She loves the outdoors, getting dirty, howling at the moon, coloring/painting, and her favorite color is yellow. She gives the best snuggles but also loves to rough house. She is an absolute joy to be around.
