Hello, my name is Richard (Preston) Owens, in the fall of 2022 my then 20 year old son Greg was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Astrocytoma (Brain Cancer) underwent surgery in November 2022 and again in August 2023.
UPDATE
MRI 7/22/24 has brought a new battle, Greg now faces a new Tumor located Cerebellum. In his original 2022 diagnosis, the Tumor was located in the right Frontal Lobe.
We now face very hard decisions moving forward. Our family history of Lynch Syndrome has created a problem with receiving adequate treatment in Arkansas as there are no "Experts" available for cancer as a result of a mismatched DNA repair gene.
Recently in mid May ,Greg was suffering from Anemia. As a result of the anemia Greg fell and took a blow to his head. After a trip to the emergency room to get stitches, a CT scan was performed that showed no hemorrhage and stable results in his frontal lobe.
Today we face a new Tumor that correlates with the area where he hit his head.
I need to raise the funding to get him in the hands of a true expert who can guide a better level of care for my son.
After nearly 2 long years of this battle I am financially depleted.
If you have the means to help, I can promise you that not only are you providing a better path for my son, you will also be part of helping other Patients around the world who have cancer as a result of Lynch Syndrome.
In the world population it is estimated the 1/240 or 1/279 people have Lynch Syndrome depending on which study you read. By helping us you will also be Helping me help others by bringing awareness to cancer predisposition syndromes that patients are rarely tested for when facing a diagnosis of cancer. We need help finding better options for Greg.
A Cure for cancer is out there. But it requires access to experts. And AWARENESS to patients, families and caregivers.
