Ezra Schwartz - Baruch Dayan Emet

My name is Ace Gershfield and I created this page after hearing of Ezra's story yesterday... I plan to donate all funds raised to the organizations listed below in honor of Ezra Schwartz:

- The Striar Hebrew Academy of Sharon, MA
- Maimonides school in Brookline, MA
- Yeshivat Ashreinu in Bet Shemesh, Israel
- Camp Yavneh in Northwood, NH

I am in no way related to the family just trying to help in the way I felt I could the most by reaching out to my social networks and tyring to help raise funds in  his memory.

With tears still wet mourning the loss of a young Jewish boy whom I've never met... I write this note in hopes of honoring his life and those who cared and loved him so much!

I was just sitting in my office when I came across a story of what might seem to some just another "Jew" killed in Israel by a Palestinian terrorist... But this article started out by saying he was an American, and then I opened up the article and see he's from Sharon, Ma. and my heart broke... It is never easy reading about the daily attacks of Jews in Israel but this one hits home way too hard and close to home.

An 18-year-old boy, and I say boy because Ezra Schwartz was just that... A young boy living his life to the fullest and supporting the community and those who help protect us all in Israel during his gap year. A young soul that has been taken from this world way way to soon... 

Again I do not know Ezra, but my heart aches for his family and friends and the Jewish community! 

The tears we shed are not for his loss but the joy of his memory, may it last forever... Baruch Dayan Emet

Ezra was a friend with my family friends... they baby sat for him... he went to the same Jewish camp as my wife and her brothers and sisters... He walked the same hallways, streets, and playgrounds as so many of our friends all over New England....  

I will be reaching out to Ezra's family in hopes of getting 100% of whatever funds we can raise to them in order to help with funeral costs and or to eventually create a scholarship fund in Ezra's name. (11/20/15 - 1:30pm I've been in contact with Ezra's Uncle and we are working out where these funds will be allocated thank you.)

I know money will not bring Ezra back, but if we can raise enough I can only hope his family will find a way to heal others in his memory...
