Finish The Toyota FJ For Mason

Donation protected
My  son Mason Bednar was killed in a tragic accident on October 24th 2015. He was thrown from his truck for not wearing his seat belt. He was an amazing young man who touched many many lives.
In life he had many passions. One of his last was customizing and restorating  his FJ40  Toyota Land Cruiser using only the best parts. The plan was to turn it into a rock crawling, off road racing buggy. Mason served on two different off road racing teams.....
in places like King Of The Hammers and the like.  And he was hooked!

Mason down front in this picture with his good freind Camden Blankenship and the racing team of Levi Shirley.

Here is Mason with Terry Madden, a dear friend and racing teleader of his.

We are raising these funds to complete this for him in his honor, and to continue his legacy. Once it is finished we intend to  use the vehicle to build public awareness of the danger of driving with out a seat belt, as well as drunk driving dangers. Please help us do this for this amazing young man, who will be greatly missed. Let's do what we can to spare more lives. The FJ had been stored in Colorado Springs where he lived. Matt Thompson, the father of the young man who survived the accident, had intended to finish it. Many reasons prevented him from completing it, so we have broght the project home to Texas two years after the accidient in October of 2017. It was rather like bringing Mason Bednar home himself, the project embodies his spirit so well.
So now we dive into the project and try and get into the head of Mason, and learn just what he intended. I plan on being hands on in the project as much as possible. Yea Im a girl, thats never stopped me yet! I have been learning how to weld, using his equipment! And with Jon McIntyre's help, amazing knowledge and support we will get this baby done!

Mason's goal was to refine the already
off road proven vehicle to participate in off road competitions.
This will be accomplished by altering the chassis,
power train and electronics.
Chassis / Suspension done by Mason and Matt Thompson, owner of 3D Off Road Colorado Springs Colorado.

GM Super Charged LS3 8 Cylinder motor.
GM L8E 6 Speed Auto.
Ford 9" with Spider Trax modification and parts.

Drive shafts, Exhaust, Brakes, Roll Cage,
Electronics, etc. will be done by
McIntyre Speed Shop

There are many more parts that need to be secured, axels to gas tanks etc.   And much fabrication too...... Sand blasting and painting....
We have made some large purchases including the transmission and a few other items so far.......
Please help us complete the FJ so we can honor him.....

Bryce Clemmer, Matt Thompson's son and Masons dear friend and room mate was also in the accident. He suffered major head injuries. Two years after the accident, he has improved so much, to the suprise of his doctors. The road is very long for he and his family. Please keep them in your prayers. ThanksThis  photo above is of Bryce Clemmer taken October 29th 2017. And the two below are of Mason Bednar.

More about Mason.
He was born with an engineer brain! From the moment he could move he began putting things together to make trains.....As he grew so did his passion for building things, taking things apart to see how they worked, and meking things move! Like rc cars, trucks and planes.
Of coarse he wone science fair three times in a row.
He participated in a lego robotics team in his early teens. and when he could drive, with a hardship license at 14, he drove!

And he worked hard at many jobs to earn the money to pay for his vehicles. From motorcycles to trucks.....
Two weeks after graduating high school he went into the army. Serving 8 years and 3 tours.  They nicknamed him McGiver  or even Builder Bob, because he was always building things. Using what he had on hand to get the job done. He eventually earned a shop while deployed!

Three months after getting out of the army, he was going to college, working a ful time job at Auto Truck customizing trucks for the railroad. and working on his FJ as well as designing his first invention of an indistructable dip tin! The night of his death he had been at the shop testing it with a fork lift, running it over to test its strength! Sadly they went a bar afterwards to celebrate getting a bonus that was long time coming, and were over served in just and hour and a half.......
It was a bad combination of wet roads, slick tires, drunk driving and no seatbelts. The next morning I recieved the call that no parent ever wants to get.   He was my only child.

Since loosing my only son Mason, I have created Masons Foundation in his honor. The mission is to empower youth to explore their interests and find their passion, The first year we raised funds to purchase lego robotic sets for all of the schools in Fayette county Texas.

This coming year we will focus on the FJ.....
