Most of you know her as Fatima Nawab or Maggie Merino-Nawab. She has been married for 27 years to her wonderful husband Farrukh and she has two amazing children. Her lovely daughter Sarah is 13 and her adorable son Danyal is 10 years old and attends Brighter Horizons Academy. Fatima(Maggie) has always cherished her life, loved her family and has thanked God for all her blessings daily. She has a kind heart and she can always make you smile because her laughter is contagious. She is a dedicated mother and a devoted wife. Life for her up until recently had been wonderful and normal.
However, on March 4th 2015, she was diagnosed with stage 4 Leiomyosarcoma (a very rare and aggressive uterine cancer). After several days of initial shock and tears, she told herself that she needed to focus on fighting this cancer and put all her energy towards her cure. After all, she has two beautiful children, a husband and lots of family and friends to live for. She has gone through several treatments to include surgeries, several types of oral and IV chemotherapy and radiation over the course of 1.5 years. The hospital stays, ER visits and blood transfusions have been countless. With a prayer, she is pursuing a cure and they would like to go to MD Anderson in Houston or even overseas if needed, in search for clinical trials / treatments that may not be readily available in Dallas or in US. Unfortunately pursuing a cure has been very expensive since not all treatments are covered with insurance and the family already has insurmountable medical bills to pay. They waited as long as they could hoping for a cure or a break, but now they have finally reached a point where they have exhausted their resources and asking for help has become necessary. Reluctantly, the family is requesting some assistance so that she can continue pursuing the cure in Houston or overseas and to help offset the cost of medical treatment they have already incurred so far. Fatima, Farrukh, Sarah and Danyal will continually need all the positive thoughts, prayers and support throughout these next few months as they fight this battle with cancer. I know that we can all come together as one large community to help this family that we love. Please keep her and the family continually in your prayers. They would like to thank you from the bottom of their hearts and pray that Almighty God bless you with good health and happiness.
