Help Amanda R. Fight Like A Girl!

Amanda Reynolds, age 26 was born and raised in Harleysville, PA where she attended North Penn Senior High School. Upon her high school graduation, she decided to attend York College of Pennsylvania to study nursing. Once there, Amanda wanted to find a way to bond with the students on campus--so she went through recruitment. Amanda enjoyed meeting each sorority, but says she instantly felt a connection with every sister in Omega Chi. In the Spring of 2009, she pledged with the Alpha Class and became known to many Greeks as bogiebee. This was also the year Omega Chi went national. Therefore, Amanda Reynolds became a founding sister of the sorority Theta Phi Alpha. Since college graduation, Amanda has moved to Phoenixville, PA and has begun her career as a nurse.

Recently, we learned of some awful news concerning Amanda, which is that she has invasive ductal carcinoma--the  most common form of breast cancer. Amanda also has the BRCA1 Gene, which is a breast cancer mutation gene and happens to run in her family. This also explains why she developed breast cancer at such a young age.

The medical specialty team Amanda is working with has not given her very much specific information (yet) regarding the battle she faces ahead, but they have made her aware that it will be lenghly and strenuous.

Amanda has been told that she will have to get a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction due to her genetic history.  Depending on what's found during surgery when the lymph node dissection is done, there's a very strong possibility of chemo/radiation. Due to Amanda's current health situation, she is trying to harvest her eggs and freeze her embryos so that if possible, she may still be able to have children in the future.

Most members involved in YCP Greek life  know Amanda Reynolds. While attending York, she was selected by her sisters in Theta Phi Alpha to sit on E-board and hold the position as secretary. She has always been passionate about her charity work and volunteering--not only on campus, but off as well. She would be sure to attend events to support every sorority & fraternity. You could usually find Amanda at a mixer, wearing her letters on campus, cheering at Greek Week & of course, on Jackson Street! She's the girl who everyone loves and everyone gets along with!

Amanda's fight has only just started and she's already begun to acquire mounting medical and household bills which have transpired because of her medical condition.  On behalf of current and alumnus GREEK LIFE of York College of Pennsylvania, the sororities and fraternities have come together to set up this GoFundMe page for Amanda 'bogiebee' Reynolds. We are asking people to please donate to this GoFundMe page (and share it as well) to help with Amanda's expences/ medical bills.

Although it's been extreamely difficult seeing her struggle during this time, Amanda is a strong person and the spark inside of her has not gone out! We would like to thank you in advance for helping make a difference!

To Amanda: You've already been through so much, yet you ask for nothing and remain hopeful and positive.  You are unbelievably brave. Fight like a girl! Rembember that you can beat this, you are a fighter -- and most of all, you are not alone! We love you!
