Fletcher Blades – Funeral and Family Assistance
This fundraiser is in tribute of Fletcher Blades, who shockingly departed this world on Monday, April 6th 2015.
This is a tragedy and loss that has affected so many. He was a loving father and step-father to his three children Taylor, Scott, and Alex, as well as devoted husband to his wife, Paige. Fletcher’s friends and family were the light of his life. When he wasn't talking about his family and fond memories together, he loved sharing stories about sports; especially basketball – March Madness, the Redskins, and golf! He also enjoyed remembering his Twinbrook days and his Blue Ridge friends.
The Blades family moved to the area from Germantown in 2006 and immediately Paige became active in the local community, joining the moms club and becoming part of the family at Kemptown Elementary School where she is often seen volunteering while Fletcher was the family’s sole provider. They have also been involved in and supported activities at Windsor Knolls Middle School, Urbana High School, LOUYAA, and the Urbana Recreation Council.
This fund has been set up by a few close friends of Paige and Fletcher in order to provide assistance in this time of need. While Paige would not normally ask for such help, she has allowed us to start this fund on her behalf. All donations and proceeds will go directly to the financial support of his family after the funeral expenses are paid. Paige, the kids, and family are touched by the community’s outpouring of support and thank you from the bottom of their hearts. We have set the goal to $20,000 in order to have the family expenses covered for six months, enabling the family to make future financial decisions.
After such a hard loss we hope that families help each other and open up to new friendships. Our hearts cry with his family at this time and we hope that Paige and her family will find comfort that so many people are thinking of them.
