Forest Solar Project

Donation protected
We need help to bring solar electricity to an unhoused camp in the Forest!

We are happy to be working with Copia Collective, a new cooperative working to end poverty and restore our ecosystems. They have graciously funded $638 for the charge controller and inverter, plus $693 for the battery.

With an additional $500, we can purchase 1000 watts of solar panels and the associated mounting hardware, cables and fuses.

We are modifying and fitting an existing shed with solar that will provide enough power to charge about 20 phones, laptops, power tools, lighting, etc., for an autonomous camp in the Forest that is entirely off-grid.

We're excited to get this project going and appreciate your help, however big or small the contribution.

Anything raised beyond the initial $500 will go towards needed repairs on the shed and additional solar panels to expand what the station is able to power.

Update: We purchased the original 3 (blemished) panels we planned for but had to return one for improper voltage. We replaced that one with two smaller ones (all that was available), but then had to buy an additional charge control, fuses & cables, so we increased our goal to $1000. This setup will allow for expansion of solar power to the camp in the future.

The rotten sections of the shed have been torn out and are now in the process of being replaced. All panels have been resin-sealed to help prevent damage.

Update 2: So close!!! We're -$130, but the shed should go live soon!
