Hello all, most of you know or have heard of the Ortiz and Rotondi families, one way or another. I am Aunt Mary on the Rotondi side.
Our families were brought together more than 35 years ago through the bonds of marriage. A wonderful mix of Puerto Rican and Italian heritage. Two Rotondi Sisters, (Sharon Ann, and Gracie, both RIP now) marrying two Ortiz cousins. Happy, joyful memories of times spent together as a fun loving, caring, and wonderful mix of personalities and culture...
We celebrated hundreds of our family's, extended family's, and friend's joy's, life milestones and accomplishments. We have also experienced our share of hard times- tragedy- sickness - deaths and mourning. We have always supported all that needed comfort and aid in their times of difficulty, whether related by blood or just friends, or friends of friends. THAT IS WHO WE ALL ARE..
Sharon Ann (Rotondi) & Alex Ortiz SR.'s daughter, Francessca Ortiz, recently received the devastating diagnosis of terminal stage 4 cancer. Both families, as well as Francessca were blindsided by this discovery. She was only 20 years old, this past October 2015, when we all learned of the severity of her diagnosis.
For many people turning 21, which was in November 2015 for Francesca , it seems like it is going to be a new beginning. They really begin to start understanding themselves, maybe thinking of buying a car, getting married, buying a house, starting a family, white picket fence, and FINALLY feel settled in life.
IT IS NEVER EASY TO LOSE A LOVED ONE, BUT TO LOSE A CHILD IS A NIGHTMARE THAT NO PARENT IS PREPARED FOR.
When someone is diagnosed with cancer the hope is that it is easily treatable, and hope it to be livable at the very least for years and years. The plan, with family support is to fight, fight, fight until all the monsters are gone. That is why they call it a battle. Unfortunately not all stories are like fairy tales or super hero legends, and sometimes the hero doesn't win.
The Ortiz family needs all of us to help them get through the tough times that lie ahead. We need to be HER HERO, more than ever now, to pull together and help heal a family's heavy hearts through generosity, giving, kindness, sincere sympathy but mostly by spreading the word and donating to this cause via Facebook “GO FUND ME”.
There is an urgent need to be met and carried out. She has but a limited amount of time left with loved ones, she is only 21 years old. Many of us witnessed this journey with our closest relatives and friends, fortunately for us, not one as young as Francessca... Praying, crying, and wishing it wasn't true or really happening.
As the family prepares arrangements to say their final goodbyes, let us give them the loving support, financial support and prayers to relieve their stress during this difficult time. They are already mourning and still have the final journey to face when Francesca's sweet spirit is put to rest. We all are the glue that holds US ALL together in times like this.
We are reaching out to everyone to help the family lay our lovely Francessca ( nickname BOOTY), our daughter, sister, niece, cousin and our friend to a peaceful rest. We are asking you here to help fund her memorial and funeral that she deserves in lieu of flowers or other donations.
