It's that time of the year again where a bunch of crazy folks attempt 64 miles in the middle of winter in Wisconsin, in the hilly terrains of Kettle Morraine to raise money, and awareness, for homeless veterans!

This year marks the 4th attempt the Rock Valley Rockstars have made.

In the last 3 years,  the Rock Valley Rockstars have hiked almost 400 miles collectively in snow, ice, and high speed winds. They have raised almost $50,000.00 for Housing4OurVets, and have brought much needed awareness to the veterans' homelessness crisis in the country.

This year we have two returning Rockstars, Joel Galvan (USMC, 4th year running) and Nick Brockley (3rd year running). Jake Grenawalt will be joining the team this year as a new Rockstar recruit. Housing4OurVets.org is located in Janesville, WI. We are a 48 bed, sober-living, transitional shelter for homeless, and at-risk, veterans in the Veteran's Integrated Services Network 12; we serve veterans in WI, IL, IN, and MI.

Veterans can stay in our program for 24 months. During their stay they are provided with a room (double occupancy) with a kitchenette and bathroom, a case manager, three meals a day in our cafeteria, transportation to case management related goals, and all necessary items (hygiene items, clothing, etc.). On a regular basis, we host "morale" events for the guys: tail gate parties, cook outs, holiday parties, movie/restaurant outings, bowling, etc.

In 2011 when the Ending Veteran's Homelessness Intiative was launched, there were approximately 150,000 veterans on the street on any given night. Today, due to programs like ours nationwide, there are about 50,000.00.
