Raksha Home for Hope

Donation protected

It all started with a trip to Kathmandu, Nepal. As four eager U.S. graduate students, we thought we were embarking on the trip of a lifetime when we agreed to volunteer as health educators for a local NGO, Raksha Nepal. What we found, instead, were stories of inhumanity, courage, and sometimes even hope. This fundraiser is dedicated to the brave women and children of Raksha Nepal and the millions of women and children around the world who are unfairly subjected to forced prostitution and rape. Currently, there are 32 beautiful, intelligent children living in Raksha's cramped rental house, with no running water or clean beds. These children are fighting for a normal life, free from the violence and hate that has brought them to the kind doors of Raksha Nepal. This fundraiser seeks to break down the cycle of violence and poverty that persists in Nepal by constructing a Home for Hope outside of Kathmandu. Raksha's Home for Hope will not only provide a safe place for these children to grow and flourish, but will act as a coordinated effort for lifting women out of poverty and prostitution. Home for Hope will be a farming cooperative, a polyclinic, a women's school, and a safe house. All funds raised will go towards purchasing the land in Kathmandu Valley, construction of the building, as well as raising awareness of gender violence in our own local communities.Raksha Nepal website
