From Gaza War to a Bright Future in Canada

Hi! I’m Joudi, an intern dentist and professional artist from Gaza. I graduated from dental school just before the war began, which disrupted my dreams of starting my career.

Alongside dentistry, art has always been my passion, my refuge, and my way to express myself while finding hope in the face of challenges.

We were forcibly displaced to the south, leaving everything behind , and my life, as I knew it changed forever.

I had always dreamt of traveling to experience the world as both a learner and an artist—a difficult aspiration when you’ve spent your entire life in a besieged area. This is the seventh war I am living through, and while survival has been a constant challenge, I’ve always aimed for more. My life has been dedicated to both healing and creativity.

Despite being deeply angered by the insanity of war, I believe in the power of kindness, passion, and love.

Despite the daily challenges of survival, I have continued my internship and remain committed to my education. I am thrilled to have been accepted into a graduate program at a respected University in Canada, which has been incredibly supportive despite my unreliable Wi-Fi and documentation issues caused by the war. This program will help me work with an international NGO to directly support my people, with the hope of returning home soon after my studies to reunite with my family.

Overcoming these obstacles only strengthens my determination to pursue my dream of becoming an international student, making a positive impact both with my art and my knowledge.

Initially, part of the funds will help support me and my family of nine during these difficult times here. The remaining funds will go toward covering my tuition fees, lodging, food, winter clothing for Canada’s cold climate, visa expenses, flight costs, and the fee for crossing through Egypt, as soon as the border opens up.

Funds will be managed by my second cousin in the UK, who has kindly offered to support me by linking their bank account for the fund transfer. They will securely transfer funds to me so that I can use them directly as needed.
