Treating Vulvar Squamous Cell Cancer at UNC
Donation protected
My name is Dan Knight, and my wife Julie urgently needs your help.
Julie has Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the vulva. It's a very, very rare and dangerous form of cancer.
It's often treatable under normal circumstances. Julie's case, however, is anything but normal. It will take not one but three teams of experts, working together as one, if she is to have a chance to survive.
Her pre-existing medical conditions, which include a kidney transplant in 2018, smoldering Multiple Myeloma, and Type 1 Diabetes for 52 years, require teams of dedicated specialists unavailable anywhere but UNC Chapel Hill.
It's her only hope of survival. Her only hope.
Julie's team at UNC includes renowned gynecologist oncologists led by Dr. Bae-Jump, and radiation oncologists led by Dr. Weiner. Dr. Gerald Hladik is the coordinator of this effort, leader of the transplant team and her personal physician.
Our initial estimate of the cost of this kind of treatment was naive. The circumstances, although still hopeful, are far more dire, and the expenses far greater.
Julie's treatment will consist of chemo and radiation, five days a week, for at least eight consecutive weeks.
The cost to stay at SECU House for that time period alone is nearly $5,000 ($75 a night). That's before any medical fees at all.
This is beyond urgent.
Beyond money. It's life or death. Julie's.
If you've already given, please consider giving more, or ask someone else who may be willing to help.
Please, please help us. Please help save Julie's life.
