Assist with Paul Weaver's Memorial Expenses
Donation protected
I'm Stephanie Marrero, and I'm raising funds to pay for the final expenses of my brother-in-law, Paul Weaver, of Westlake, Louisiana.
Paul was the husband of my "sister from another mother" and my dearest friend since college, Susan Parker Weaver. Paul passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Paul LeRoy Weaver, originally of Farrandsville, Pennsylvania, has three grown children, Mike Weaver of Bellefonte, PA, Patty Knepp of Lockhaven, PA, and step-daughter, Geneva Parker of Beaumont, TX; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Paul had a visual impairment his entire life, although he never let it stop him from achieving his goals. He was an auto mechanic, and later in life, a massage therapist. The most common word used by those who knew Paul, to describe him, was "tenacious."
Paul and Susan met in 1998 in an online support group for people with disabilities. Paul was in Central Pennsylvania, and Susan in Southwest Louisiana. Paul had visual and hearing disabilities, and Susan is wheelchair bound.
In 1999, Paul flew to Louisiana for a visit. After 2 weeks, he returned to Pennsylvania to put his house on the market. They married on April 5, 2001.
Susan was Paul’s eyes and ears, and Paul was her legs and spine. They often said about their partnership, "Between the two of us, we have just enough spare parts to make one half-assed person."
They shared a love of animal rescue. Over the years they fostered and rescued many dogs. But in recent years, their avid rescuing efforts morphed from the canine to the feline persuasion; Paul became a "cat daddy". They currently have five feline rescues at home, who will miss their Daddy terribly.
Over 23 years of marriage, life presented the couple with many challenges. But there was nothing that ever kept them down, as long as they stuck together!
Susan said of Paul: "I don't know how to tell people how special he was... or how cleverly he navigated the world without his sight... or how much I need him to help me through this right now. What am I going to do without my other half?”
Paul had a burial insurance policy, however, when they received the claim, the insurance company told the family they will contest it, since the policy is less than two years old. While that battle rages, my deepest wish is to help alleviate one aspect of the pain my beloved sister is experiencing at this stressful time.
Please help us raise enough funds to pay for Paul’s final expenses:
$1,500.00 Cremation
$ 75.00 Cold Storage
$ 1,425.00 At-Home Memorial Service and Helping Daughter Geni Move Back Home as Caregiver
$3,000.00 Total
Thank you for your help!
