Walker was raised in the historical Kansas City Jazz district also known as 18th & Vine. Walker was inspired to start the training program shortly after receiving the news that he had acquired an enlarged heart. Grind House Basketball was created with intentions of providing elite training and educating players about the game of basketball. It also emphasizes building a strong support system in the lives of the athletes and stresses the importance of education. As a product of the inner city, Walker understands that there is a need to focus on the fundamentals of basketball and the importance of education. Walker attended Crispus Attucks, Kansas City Middle School of the Arts for primary education and Archbishop O’Hara High School for high school. At Archbishop O’Hara High School Walker finished his basketball career averaging 25.6 ppg (career) and 31.0 ppg (senior) while leading the school to their first state championship. Following high school, Walker attended the University of Nebraska and Indian Hills CC before settling in at Colorado State University. In two years at CSU, Walker was able to obtain his bachelor's degree and surpass the 1,000 points mark. Post college, Walker was afforded many opportunities to train for NBA teams and to play professionally overseas. Over the course of three years, Walker played in Iceland, Italy and in the Ukraine. While overseas he played teams in France, Poland, Lithuania, Czech Republic and Italy. In the two seasons played, Walker was the leading scorer and assists leader during pre-season in Italy before receiving the unfortunate news about his condition. Upon receiving the news he returned to the States and decided to start Grind House Basketball to uplift his hometown of Kansas City, MO.

Athletes from Kansas City, Missouri have a huge disadvantage because of a lack of equipment. This equipment, in turn, can help further their success in their sport. When I first started my training company it was designed to bring exposure to not only Kansas City, Missouri but to the Midwest region. Grind House Basketball has had some recent success and has gained national attention. This has given me the opportunity to travel the world and view other training programs.  I quickly observed that there are some factors that separate other programs, primarily training equipment. This is a clear disadvantage for our kids when compared to other kids across the country. They do not have access to the tools that are vital to their success in their sport.  With this equipment, my players will be able to physically and mentally develop their minds and bodies.  It will give them the opportunity to train with equipment that professional athletes use and promote things such as repetition, strength, mechanics, and recovery time.  My main goal is to get our kids to the same level and help promote them on a national level.  I am asking for your help to elevate the youth of our city.

Currently our program is involved with top players such as: Marcus Foster who is playing professional overseas; Jada Williams who is one of the top 9th grade female basketball players in the country with several high major D1 interest and offers; Jaylon McDaniel who is one of the top 20 recruits in the country in the class of 2021, just to name a few. With such equipment as the ones pictured below we will be able to go above and beyond and give them the well deserved and much needed equipment to further their success and help them maintain their status as some of the best in the country.
