Geraldine Trada Foundation's World Diabetes Day Celebration
Donation protected
Geraldine Trada Foundation is a nonprofit organisation based in Rwanda, founded by Tracey and her daughter Geraldine, who lives with Type 1 diabetes (T1D). Our mission is to raise awareness about T1D, reduce stigma, and provide essential support to children and young adults living with this condition in Rwanda. This year, we are reaching out for your support to help fund our World Diabetes Day celebration on November 16, 2024, at Muhima Hospital in Kigali.

Why This Fundraiser Matters
In 2019, our founders were deeply moved by the challenges faced by T1D patients at Muhima Hospital, inspiring them to create GT Foundation. Since then, we have worked tirelessly to provide welfare support, cover universal health insurance, and offer regular medical check-ups for T1D patients. Each year, World Diabetes Day provides a unique opportunity to bring our community together for education, support, and empowerment.
Last year, we hosted 30 patients and their families for a day of awareness and learning, in collaboration with Muhima Hospital’s Diabetes Department. Patients received blood glucose testing, were provided with test kits, and learnt about carbohydrate counting. Families also received food supplies to take home. This year, with your help, we hope to make an even greater impact.
How Your Donations Will Be Used
We are seeking funds to support this year’s World Diabetes Day event, specifically for:
- Nutritious Meals: Providing a lunch for all attendees, many of whom struggle to afford regular meals.
- Food Parcels: Supplying patients with take-home food parcels to help sustain them after the event.
- Medical Supplies and Health Insurance: Covering costs for blood glucose test kits, essential medical supplies, and follow-up health insurance.
- Educational Resources: Hosting workshops to equip patients and caregivers with the knowledge they need to manage T1D effectively.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference. By supporting this cause, you are helping us create a brighter future for children and young adults living with T1D in Rwanda.
Thank you for your generosity and support. Together, let’s make this year’s World Diabetes Day an event to remember and a step forward in our fight to raise awareness and support for T1D.
"The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed." – Proverbs 11:25
