Send Love to the Morrisons

"My husband and sons went four hours north this weekend for a ski trip in Vermont. On Saturday afternoon I got the call that our oldest son had an accident--broke his hip and femur--and needed surgery.

The surgeon said it was a lot more difficult of an operation than they anticipated and Gabe lost so much blood he was spasming on the table and his heart rate skyrocketed. They gave him a blood transfusion because he lost two liters and was 3 points below danger level. He's pretty out of it still, but stable now.

Gabe is not doing well. He has a fever and on top of that he isn't responding to the pain medications. They can only give him certain ones because of the bleeding in his brain - the ones they can give him aren't working.

They've tried about five different narcotics, but every time they shift him he just screams and screams and cries and cries and begs for us to let him die. It's terrible. Gutting. I want to crawl up the walls. I feel sick. My ankle hurts and I'm trying to manage my own injury without going backwards in recovery because I need to be able to take care of Gabe.

We were hoping to get an ambulance transfer to Yale-New Haven, but he isn't stable enough to even move. It looks like we'll be here at least two more days before transfer, if all goes well. Seth and Jude are at home with my younger sister if any of y'all want to give them some love. They're having a hard time too. It feels so bad to have our family in separate places right now.

Thank you for all the love and prayers, my friends. We don't feel alone and that means everything to us right now."

Gabe is thirteen and is an amazing young man + a talented artist / photographer   too.

Austin and Erika  and their boys are some of the most remarkable folks I know. They love each other and the people who cross their path so well.

I don't know exactly what their financial needs are (and I imagine they don't know yet either), but I believe that money is a way of showing love and they could use some love today and in the months ahead.

Whether they need to cover travel and lodging, medical bills, missed time off work, or just have a cushion to reduce the stress on their family right now, this is a way to practically show love and help to these folks who mean so much to us.

All donations will go directly to the Morrison family.
