Gabriela Codon, our Branch Manger of our Fort Myers location has been admitted into the ICU unit this past Saturday and her prognoses does not look good. Her husband has been notified it is just a matter of time...
Gabi has been a part of our MaidPro family since Feb. 19th 2005... She has pioneered our Fort Myers branch office since it's inception. Over the years she has built an amazing team of working professionals which has resulted in a very successful branch office. Gabi has always been strong and a successful leader in our organzation. She's treated this business as if it were her own and has continuously put others needs before her own.
Earlier this year she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery to have the cancer removed June 27th, 2017. Although the surgery was successful she had to have further chemo therapy treatments. She seemed to be surviving this horrific disease and continued to work. Gabriela is a very strong woman and her career with MaidPro was very important to her.
Gabi is only 42 years young and is a wife and mother of a 5 year old little boy with no other immediate family in the area. Her and her family attended our Christmas party this past December 2017 and she seemed to be doing great! You couldn't even tell she was going in for regular chemo treatments. Her team of cleaning PRO's admired and respected her as she has built a team of loyal employee's.
I am sorry to say that in the last 3 weeks she has deteriorated quickly. She is so strong that she has kept most of her suffering to herself and has not shared with anyone as to what was going on. She was admitted in the hopsital a couple of weeks ago and told everyone not to worry because she just had an infection and she needed to be put on some stronger antibiotics intravenously. She was in the hospital for close to a week and then discharged. She was quickly back to work. But this time, something didn't seem right. She was thin and very pale. We suspected that her cancer has spread although she is not telling anyone anything. Last week on Friday she never made it to the office. Her husband had to rushed her to the hospital and they admitted her. Her husband was not telling us anything either as he was respecting Gabi's wishes to be very private.
Saturday a group of us from the Naples and Fort Myers office went to the hospital to visit Gabi. When I arrived Saturday morning I was surprised to learn that she has been transferred to the ICU unit. Two at a time we were able to visit with Gabi. When I saw her it was obvious she was acutely ill. All she could say is that she was sorry and she didn't want to lose her job. We visited with her for a while and consoled with her. I told her to not worry about her job and she is due a BIG raise when she gets out of here... She actually thought she was in ICU because they didn't have enough beds in the hospital. I also told her I brought her flowers but they wouldn't let me bring them in. She said "That's because of all of the OLD people here"...
Sunday she turned for the worse... Today we have learned that although the doctors have been fighting the infection with high doses of antibiotics, the cancer and infection has spread and it is a matter of time.
As of today, 1/23/2018 Gabriela Cadon is on life support. The doctors have informed her husband Jose that it is time to let her go... Today, Gabi is with God and she is no longer suffering and is happy.
May the story of Gabi remind us of how precious life is.... To never take anything for granted... To not let the little things bother us... To love our families even more... To help others in need... To inspire others... To do whatever it takes to meet your goals... To stop and remember what is really important... To Pray... To have faith... To never give up on hope... To remember Joy... Namaste...
We are asking for donations and your prayers for Gabi and her family. There has been a significant amount of medical expenses, her husband has had to take time off from work to be there for his wife and much more.... Thank you for your support.
