In this first phase, we are raising $28,000 USD in direct donations to address immediate and pressing needs. In phase two, we will leverage public and private partnerships to rebuild village infrastructure and foster sustainable livelihoods, implementing all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, a UN blueprint for a more equitable and sustainable future. This village has the potential to serve as a model for similar communities, showcasing what is possible through collaborative, impactful change.

Hello, I'm Raquel Miller, founder and CEO of Bunchful, a social enterprise rooted in the values of giving and empowerment. Inspired by my grandmother's and father's legacy, which shaped my early life growing up in Jamaica, Bunchful stands on the pillars of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. When I learned of the urgent challenges faced by Living Children's Academy, a small village school in The Gambia where children from ages 3 to 16 strive to learn amid harsh conditions, I knew we had to take action. This school is more than just a building; it’s a beacon of hope for these children and families, and together, we can make a profound and impactful difference in their lives.

Patrons from New York City visited this Gambian village, witnessed the conditions firsthand, and have since become Bunchful Ambassadors to help transform the school.

The Current Reality:

Living Children’s Academy is grappling with poor infrastructure, including broken furniture, bare floors, and no ceilings. The absence of safe fencing leaves the school grounds vulnerable to intruders, compromising the children’s security. The need for renovations is urgent, with essentials like desks, chairs, tables, painting of classrooms, and a secure fence to create a safe learning environment.

The Teachers and Students' Needs:

Beyond the immediate repairs, both teachers and students require basic tools to facilitate learning and growth:

For Teachers:

Laptops for research, storage of notes, and recording assessment marks, as well as office, staff room, and classroom furniture.

For Students:

Desktop computers for learning, exercise books, color pencils, crayons, pencils, erasers, and other essential teaching materials.

Supporting Daily Life and Nutrition:

We want to make sure the school can provide for the students' daily needs, including:

Cooking Equipment:

Gas cookers, cooking utensils, cutlery sets, and other kitchen essentials.

Play Materials for Young Learners:

Toys for nursery-aged children, ensuring even the youngest students can thrive.

Extending the Impact:

Our mission doesn’t stop at the school’s boundaries. This campaign also aims to support surrounding villagers with essentials like food and clothing, thereby uplifting the entire community.
