Help the Children of Gawad Kalinga
Tax deductible
Our Gawad Kalinga village in El Dorado, Paranaque City is home for 23 poor families with disabled kids. The kids are mostly with cerebral palsy and require physical therapy to improve their mobility and limb functions. The kids’ families are unable to pay for regular therapy sessions due to financial incapacity.
The kids are going thru regular physical therapy (PT) sessions with licensed professional therapists. A volunteer rehab doctor comes at least once a month. The therapists come into the village and work on the kids at least 3 times a week. We pay the PTs P650 (~$13.11 USD) per day; with 2 PTs, we spend P1,300 (~$26.22 USD) per day-sessions. The funds for the PT came from generous friends and former colleagues. The parents help by providing meals and snacks for the PTs.
We still need funds to sustain the PT sessions for at least 2 years; maybe even up to several years.
Gawad Kalinga is a Philippine-based movement that aims to end poverty for 5 million families, by first restoring the dignity of the poor. Our website is http://www.gk1world.com/home.
