Get this Uber driver off the road. (mostly)

It’s more than likely that if you’re reading this you already know most of what I say next, however if you don’t, or if you’re wondering why I’ve created a Go Fund Me page then I think it’s very much worth reading what’s below. I’m really not great at asking for help so this kind of thing isn’t easy for me and is very much masked in humour by the Uber joke. But the reality is that Uber driving at one point while also working full time was my life. But right now I’m luckily enough to be able to dedicate more energy to my life and my incredible brother. And I definitely would like to keep it that way.

For various reasons I became my brother’s primary caregiver in November 2022. And although it was an event that meant changing where I lived, what I was responsible for, and my lifestyle almost entirely, it was a decision made easily when I realised I had the skill set and connection with my brother to be able to provide him with stability and a secure base to help him become the best he can be. Also, most importantly, he is amazing which made this a no brainer.

Though taking this on meant there were many challenges throughout the year, practically, emotionally, and financially. While I feel as though I’ve been trying to find time anywhere I can get it to meet a number of competing demands. However, I have been so lucky to receive incredible support already from family and friends and Noah and I are so thankful for the support network we have around us at the moment. This has also included a small number of friends and family contributing incredibly generous financial support both personally and via this platform.

And I do want to stress, that reaching out to community more broadly like this doesn’t feel comfortable for me as asking for help never has really. Though this year the goal posts have kept moving financially and just when money seems stable, something unexpected always seems to come up. As such I’ve had to put my interests, and my health at times second, to do whatever it took to sustain our home and essential needs.

I can say fortunately that I am keeping things afloat for now with more ease, however what I would love for Noah and I would be that assuredness that we don’t need to worry about affording the essentials and to have a humble comfortability financially so that I don’t have to carry stress around him.

Finally though, I absolutely understand that everyone is doing it tough and am not expecting a fix to all our problems through this page. As such no one is expected to contribute anything. Though any one who does, we would be extremely great full to.
