Stroke Recovery for Stephen Perry

Donation protected

My name is Amy and I am Stephen Perry's wife. The day after we arrived for a week long vacation to visit family in Arizona, my husband Stephen suffered a massive stroke in his brain stem area at the young age of 35. The brain stem is the part of the brain that regulates activity in the body that we do automatically such as regulating breathing and swallowing, among other things. He has been hospitalized for over two weeks at this point with not much improvement during that time, although he is in stable condition. He is unable to breathe on his own and must be connected to a ventilator to maintain his breathing. At one point he lost all movement on his right side, but his condition is improving as we have noticed slight movements on that side, though not quite deliberate at this point.

He has been moved from the hospital where he was in ICU to another ICU at an acute long term care facility. It is expected that it will be 2-3 months before doctors will even be able to perform an assessment to determine how much damage the stroke has caused and the level of recovery he will be able to have.

I am collecting funds to pay for the medical expenses that are accruing thoughout his long stay here away from home. Because he is unable to sign for consent for any procedures that may be required, I will need to stay in Arizona as long as possible to assist with everything the medical care staff requests, so any donations will also be used to help cover the costs of bills while I am here taking care of Steve.

Steve is very involved in  the Rocket League community and is loved and cared for by many people throughout his life and within the Rocket League community. We are doing our best to ensure he has a quick recovery, but there is quite a bit of work he has to do to be able to be strong enough to head back home.

If you are able to donate, Steve and I would be very appreciative as we are in a rough spot right now and in need of help from other people more than anything else that has happened to us. We could both use all the emotional and financial support people are willing to give during this difficult time.

Thank you,
Amy
