2018 Ghana Medical Mission

Hello,
My name is Dr. Akwasi Amponsah. I was born and raised in Kumasi, Ghana, where I did my early education up to high school. By God’s Grace, I was able to enter the US to attend college. I worked hard to get accepted into medical school in NJ. I went on to secure a position in an Anesthesiology residency at UMDNJ. I studied and prayed even harder to land a highly coveted fellowship position in Interventional pain management at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in NYC.
I now work and teach at the Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami VA hospital and the University of Miami Hospital. God has blessed me and I am now the Program Director for the Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship program.
We want to go back home and help our people who are suffering from chronic pain conditions but do not have access to proper care. “To whom much is given, much is expected”; this has always been my mantra. I don’t want to use what God has blessed me with for personal gains alone. I cannot forget where I came from, my humble beginnings and it is imperative that I go back and help our people in Ghana, West Africa.
This is our first mission for pain management. I intend to bring with me some pain doctors, nurses, pain fellows and/or residents to provide lectures on chronic pain conditions, participate in health fairs and perform as many injections for pain control as possible.
I thank you in advance and may God bless you and return to you anything that you may give; even if is $1.
God speed.
