Glastonbury: MLK39 Racial Equity Mural Tour

Tax deductible
RiseUP, in collaboration with the Glastonbury community and acclaimed artist Micaela Levesque, is embarking on a mission to create a powerful mural on the walls of our Town Hall. This project is part of the larger MLK39 Racial Equity Mural Tour, which aims to foster discussions on racial equity and celebrate the legacies of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and civil rights champions.

Our Vision:
We envision a mural that reflects our shared history and hopes for the future—a visual testament to the progress we've made and the work still ahead. It's not just a mural; it's a conversation starter, an educational tool, and a reminder that the journey toward equality continues.

Why Glastonbury?
Glastonbury is a town rich in community spirit and history. Placing this mural on our Town Hall signifies our commitment to inclusivity and social justice. It's a statement that we stand united against injustice and are proactive in building a community where everyone is valued.

Community Engagement:
The mural's design will be influenced by Glastonbury's residents through an open community survey. This ensures that the mural truly represents the voices and experiences of our local community.

About Micaela Levesque:
Micaela is a Connecticut-based artist with a passion for creating art that resonates with and impacts the community. Her murals are not only stunning but also inspire change and reflection.

Funding Goal:
We're on a mission to raise $15,000 to complete this vital project. These funds will cover all costs associated with professionally executing the mural, including materials, artist fees, and community engagement activities.
