Dear, Friends and Family.
I am currently experiencing one of the most difficult times in my life. On Tuesday, April 12th, I received a heartbreaking phone call from my younger brother informing me that my mother passed away unexpectedly. I am beyond devastated as my mother was a single parent to my three siblings and I. My mother was disabled throughout my life and made many sacrifices for her children and others. Although she was never feeling at her best, she always found a way to light up the room with her sense of humor.
My mother was my inspiration to pursue a career as a physician. Since I was very young, I would go with my mother when she visited the doctor. Afterward, she would send me into the pharmacy to pick up her numerous medications because she was too embarrassed. I was curious about her medications and wanted to help, but I lacked the knowledge. Her health conditions sparked my interest in medicine, leading me to earn a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry, further to pursue a Master’s in Science in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Michigan State University. This is a photo of my sister, mother and I at my graduation in May 2015. Of course, she was always very proud of me because she had the opportunity to see me excel. She knew I was making a continuous effort to escape the living conditions I was raised in. I know that my mother is in heaven still smiling at me and will forever watch over me. I will continue to honor her and become the best physician possible as she wanted me to live out my dreams.
Unfortunately, my mother did not have life insurance, and since our loss was unexpected, my siblings and I have two days to come up with the costs for her memorial. I would truly appreciate if any of you could help me in this difficult moment. Please, continue to uplift my family in your prayers.
