Michael Fraatz - GoFundMe

Our dad, Michael Fraatz, is in a medically induced coma, on a ventilator, and recovering from an extremely bad case of bacteria infection. This infection has left him without skin or muscle from his jaw, down to his belly button, and creeping down his right leg. He has been sedated since the evening of May 7th, and we are unsure when he will be awake again. He is unstable, but the infection is slowing its progress into his body. Progression of the infection means death. Stopping the infection from spreading means that the next couple of years will entail major reconstructive surgery and intensive rehabilitation. Moving him closer to us in his condition could be fatal, and extremely expensive, as health insurance will not cover elective EMS flight transportation.
As many of you know, our dad lives in Bradenton, Florida. No one in our family lives remotely close to him: namely Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and SLC, Utah. Jake, Riley, and Ethan (we) anticipate traveling down to Florida frequently, creating a rotating schedule, in the hopes that our dad is never alone throughout this process.
Before even considering the medical bills, attorney bills, and up keeping our dads bills, we have already collectively spent upwards of $15,000 since being in Florida the morning of May 9th. We are currently staying at our dads apartment - but his lease ends at the end of June, wherein we will no longer have a place to stay when we are rotating to visit our dad.
People keep asking what we need and how people can help. Quite honestly, the financial burden of this devastating situation is inhibiting our ability to be there for our dad. Inevitably, we will be unable to afford flights, hotels, food, gas, upkeep on our dads Jeep, rent and utilities in the cities we actually live in, student loan payments... and eventually, medical bills, lawyer fees, etc. Riley will likely need to forfeit at least one of her summer positions in order to make a travel schedule available. Ethan just started a new job last week. Jake works remotely, but travels for work frequently, has a house, and now Ethan and Jake (and Lauren) will have three dogs (Aspen and Spruce - and our dad’s dog, Lola is moving to SLC for the time being).
We are humbly asking for help. Do you know anyone in the Bradenton, Sarasota, Anna Maria Island, St Pete, or Tampa area that could offer us a place to stay or a parking spot for my dads Jeep? Could you contribute financially to the things we will need to pay for? Do you know of a power of attorney / will lawyer that could help us legally throughout this process?
