The Next Generation of Environmental Stewards

Fresno's very own school for environmental stewardship, Golden Charter Academy (GCA), is a school with purpose--one meant to help students experience and engage in the natural world--both as community ambassadors and as global citizens. What makes Golden Charter Academy uniquely different from every school around the nation is its innovative approach to education. GCA is committed to providing all children a world-class, life-changing education and creating a dynamic learning environment that develops students into poised, confident, and eloquent leaders. GCA's approach to education looks different because we universally designed the school for diverse learners--one rooted in the community, using nature and neighborhoods as a laboratory for learning. GCA focuses on giving students the opportunity to connect with nature, think critically across systems, build their self-efficacy and autonomy as solution makers, and act individually and civically as stewards of their community and the natural world. Last week, someone took the liberty of breaking in and taking items from some of the GCA classrooms--materials integral for our innovative learning program to function, i.e., state-of-the-art technology stolen from students. This has, in turn, now limited our students' access to elements of the world-class education a new generation of leaders needs to be successful at solving the most complex of our community's issues.

 

Please donate to This Go Fund Me page and help GCA replace the stolen and missing technology and support the school in better securing these tools by purchasing locking docking stations and additional security of campus facilities. Your donation can help us restore and improve access for our students and get them back online to the educational resources that inspire, engage and empower.
