Summer of Mandarin
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Brandon and I am a currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in International Relations with a focus in Asian Studies, at The City College of New York.
I have always been drawn to Asian culture, and have enrolled in many classes focused on that continent.
This past year I pursued a passion mine by taking Mandarin, and after just a semester of introductory classes, I applied and was accepted to the Middlebury College Chinese School for the 8-week summer intensive program.
I was recently informed that I will not be receiving any financial to aid towards my tuition of $11,000 to attend. I need to come up with the money for this program by June, and that is why I am turning to you, my community of friends, family, friends of friends, friends of family, and even strangers who many be inspired by my story. If you are able and willing to donate to my fund, every penny would go towards my tuition which includes the education, room, and board for my 8 weeks there.
Here is a little bit about the program from their website: "With its long tradition of academic excellence, the Middlebury College Chinese School offers its students a unique, unparalleled opportunity to learn Chinese language and culture. In eight short weeks, with the support of a dedicated faculty and staff, a rigorous, well-implemented curriculum, a speak-Chinese-only total immersion learning environment, and a low student-teacher ratio, our students make unimaginable progress.”
To be able to have the opportunity to pursue my study of Mandarin at an institution such as Middlebury, and move forward on my path to fluency is truly a dream come true for me. One day in the future I hope to use my fluency in Mandarin to help aid in US-China relations in any capacity I can.
Thank you sincerely for supporting me, I am humbled by each and every dollar I receive.
Love,
Brandon
