PLEASE HELP GONZALO, THE PILGRIM’S FRIEND IN NEED
Hola! My name is Gonzalo and I am a native of Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
Many of you know me because I used to drive a taxi and drove many of you all over Galicia showing you some of my favorite places and telling you the local history. I also provided assistance to Pilgrims, such as finding accommodation, finding lost bags, advising on the best places to eat, or even finding a doctor and acting as a translator!
I am also a pilgrim and have walked the Camino of Santiago.
With the vision of opening a bar to be a home for pilgrims to gather and share stories and friendship, dance and have some fun, I gave up the taxi and opened Conga 7 (just near the Cathedral).
For a time it was just that place!
But the pandemic hit!
Life has been difficult and until now, and thanks to the generosity and assistance of friends and
family, I still have my bar, a home and food on the table. I have managed to pay all bills and taxes without placing myself into too much debt while keeping Conga7 alive, but things in Spain are very grim. Unlike other parts of the world there are no forgivable loans, no rent assistance or stimulus money to keep Spain’s small business economy going, and I have exhausted all of my options financially. Bills and taxes are mounting.
I NEED YOUR HELP!
I will be forever grateful for any donations given. I have met so many pilgrims over the years and I want to continue to do so. I want to give you all a place to meet and celebrate, to have fun at the end of your Camino. By donating to this fund, you will be endorsing this very idea and I thank you with all my heart.
Abrazos and Buen Camino!
Gonzalo
