Costa Rican kids with too many challenging hardships and fewer opportunities are being blessed and saved with river and kayaking skills taught at his free social program Jaguar Kayak Academy in Sarapiqui. https://jaguarkayak.com
Donation funds are needed to get Colorado donated kayaks and gear back to his Academy in Costa Rica. As his dream became a reality last year, he gratefully flew from Colorado back to Costa Rica with 5 donated kayaks (stuffed with gear) and began teaching youth and women from his hometown to find freedom, peace, companionship, hope, joy, kayak love and opportunities and options they never imagined possible.
Coto's passion, spirit, joy, teaching skills, example, drive and kayak love are felt by all he touches; he donates all his time, gear, money and efforts to keep his dream alive and Jaguar Kayak Academy growing into a kayak paradise where youth become leaders of their communities, protectors of their rivers, and learn they must pass it on to bring the change they wish to see in the world.
By changing the world one kayaker at a time Coto hopes to:
- teach youth to see life differently, with hope, compassion, service, and confidence, to be hard workers who are humble and a light for others
- create a peaceful place where kids and women feel at home, safe in nature, together with a river family that is forever, using the river as medicine and therapy
- encourage all to work hard for their dreams, be brave, and help them learn how to overcome problems
- build and grow a social bridge between young kayakers in Costa Rica and Colorado; promoting exchange programs and host homes that help connect kids for life
- seek community volunteers to join his mission to make a difference, become a mentor, and share their kayak love
- continue to grow Jaguar Kayak Academy into a diverse school that offers study of the self-defense, finance, languages, cooking, nutrition, ecotourism, math, music and the arts, yoga, meditation
- bring God's light into action. Helping youth become good examples of a person called by God
