Newborn Elias' Heart Surgeries
Donation protected
I have never "organized" something like this before so cut me a little slack everyone, okay? I'm nervous. Why? Because I want to be able to help my friend, Shaneeza and her newborn baby Elias, without having to do this. However, sometimes in life, we just need to and have to ask for help when it's needed even if maybe we preferred not to just so that we don't "bother" anyone. Well, my philosophy is that some people deserve to have us let go of a little pride. Elias definitely deserves it.
Little Elias Von Hickman was born on August28, 2015. He and his family will be needing much help due to a heart condition he has called DORV (with a narrowed aorta). Elias needed to stay in the NICU and so mommy was forced to do just that-- go home to NJ without him.
Medical coverage has not been 100% and the bills are stacking up, even prior to his actual surgery and medications. Elias will require special care and so mommy needs to stay home for a bit after he gets home, even though I must add that she's somehow still working from home because she's left with no choice. The predictions are that Elias will be in the NICU for a little bit prior to his surgery (until he's strong enough to have it) and of course, much after for recovery time. He's currently at a hospital in the city, for the cardiologists he requires, along with other physicians, work out of the city and not NJ. Needless to say, the extremely long commute is pretty intense and pretty expensive. As a matter of fact, there are no accommodations made as far as mommy's stay in order for her to be there with Elias. She must pay out of pocket for some kind of overnight stay being that the commute is hours long to the hospital and hours long back home. She needs to be close to Elias for many reasons.
There are so many different reasons as to why this family needs monetary help, but I will tell you that I totally understand if you simply send positive thoughts to Elias and cannot donate. There are so many in need and so many people we end up helping so believe me, I fully understand if you can't.
If you can, $5 is amazing. It's 5 more than there was before, which can be be used for countless amount of medical expenses when collected from several people.
I am truly humbled as I write this and I hope that whether you are in a position to donate or not, because that doesn't matter, that you never go through anything like this at all.
May Little Elias' hole in his little heart be repaired and everything go perfectly.
Thank you for your time and for your help. I can tell you that I live such a grateful life, but I know that one day, it can be me-- it can be my family and we would be the ones needing the help.
Thanks again and please keep the Elias, his two year old big brother Nathaniel, and the rest of his family in your most positive thoughts. ❤️❤️❤️
