10th Anniversary Homaira Rahman Foundation
Tax deductible
The children of the Homaira Rahman Foundation would like to celebrate our 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY with you!!
The first chapter has been written and your support and generosity has afforded our kids a chance in life and given them hope for a meaningful future. They are counting on all of us for another 10 Years!
Please join us in writing the next chapter for HRF . Without you , it's not possible. Without you, these children will be at a disadvantage . We extend this invitation to continue being a part of this journey and in something special and meaningful.
We would like to illustrate what 10 years of your support has meant and what we can continue to achieve together:
Homaira Rahman School
To help empower the most vulnerable children in Afghanistan, its orphans, and integrate them into society, HRF in collaboration with Orphans and Widows Association (OWA) has established its first orphans’ school, the Homaira Rahman School, in Kabul’s Parwan 3 district. The school officially opened in September 2013. We began with 50 orphaned children – boys and girls – in grades 1-4, and steadily increased enrollment each year, adding two more grade levels, bringing the total student population to just over 100 in 2019. The Homaira Rahman school is a fully functioning primary school serving the orphans of Kabul in grades 1-6.

HRF Learning Center
In 2010, HRF created this multipurpose facility at the Orphans and Widows Association (OWA) school in Kabul. It houses a library and an on-site computer lab which gives the children skills that will ultimately allow them to generate income and become self-sufficient.

HRF Emergency Relief Assistance
Since its inception, HRF has also mounted several winter relief efforts to provide basic necessities (food, clothing, blankets) to distressed children at the Sana Orphanage in Kandahar and at the OWA and JAHAN organization in Kabul; and helped survivors of natural disasters in remote areas across the country.

History
HRF was established in April 2009 in honor of Ms. Homaira Rahman, who on July 4, 2008, had her very young life tragically cut short. While there is no way to explain this senseless tragedy, both friends and family agreed this foundation was a worthy tribute to honoring her legacy. It is a testament not only to Homaira’s giving nature, but more importantly to her ability of inspiring others to support worthy causes.
As an Afghan-American, Homaira graced her community with a lasting impression. A philanthropist who always extended a hand to those in need, to fellow friends, and to family. She obtained a bachelors degree at George Mason University and progressed quickly in her young career to become a senior Human Resources specialist while remaining a steadfast advocate of multiple humanitarian causes. Through some of these efforts, she espoused a strong belief in the value of education – particularly as it concerned the plight of Afghanistan’s orphans.
Mission
To help empower the orphans of Afghanistan, primarily through education, and to help meet their basic needs.
