Hammond Street Beautification Blitz

Tax deductible
Bangor Beautiful, a local nonprofit formed in 2022 to beautify Bangor, is focusing our efforts on 3 exciting projects planned for Hammond Street this summer as part of what we're calling a "Beautification Blitz", and we need your support to make it a reality!

Beginning in May, we are planting 17 street trees on Hammond St. at the intersections of Ohio, Clinton, and High Streets. This diverse selection of native tree varieties will create beauty, enhance safety, and contribute to a healthier community.

In June, we are collaborating with Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness to create Bangor's first asphalt art mural on Hammond St. near the Wabanaki Youth and Cultural Center. This project will add vibrant indigenous art to the asphalt and increase pedestrian safety near Main Street up to the Post Office. The artwork will depict the Penobscot flowing down from Katahdin to the ocean with native plants and animals along the way.

Lastly, starting this June, we are commissioning of Jared Goulette, also known as The Color Wizard, to create the Spring Woods Mural. This stunning 2-story mural on 116 Hammond St. will be Bangor's first spray paint mural and celebrate Maine's natural beauty, featuring native flora and fauna. You can become a sponsor of this project at

Your support in any form, whether financial or through spreading awareness, would greatly contribute to the success of these initiatives. Together, we can make Hammond Street and Bangor a more vibrant and welcoming place for all.
