Have a Crack for Zak

Hi, my name is Zakary Sorensen. I am a 28 year old with Cerebral Palsy from Queensland, Australia who absolutely loves all things tech, sound and music. Swimming is also a big passion in my life, I have been swimming for as long as I can remember and over the last couple of years I have started competing and have been very successful in my competitions.

I have hit some pretty big goals already with my swimming especially with my independence in the water and getting my times down. I am currently training to qualify for the Paralympics in 2028 and am hoping to raise some funds to help me get there.

It has not always been a smooth road and it has definitely not been easy to get myself to where I am today with my swimming. I put a lot of time and energy into my training and push myself daily to stay on track, focused and motivated to achieve my goal. They say the best things in life don’t come easy but they are worth it and that is what helps me get through those days where I don’t feel focused or motivated to get in the gym or pool. It is a really big goal to compete at such a high level but your donations would help me ensure I have the best opportunity to qualify and would allow me to have access to the training and equipment I need.

I am also trying to raise funds to help me achieve my dream of having my own business. For many years I have dreamed of setting up my own studio at home, so that I can help others achieve their tech and music goals. I have been involved with Tech teams helping to organise functions and services but would love to have my own business and setup so that I could independently attend these events and show my work and passion to the world.

I spend a lot of my free time expanding my knowledge and working on my skills with tech systems, sound systems and mixing music. I am involved in an online community of people who have the same passions as me and have learnt a lot through them and have had them show me their own studios and equipment . It has always seemed like a distant dream for me but they have given me the confidence in my abilities and having my own studio would allow me to start this business in the near future. It has been a dream of mine for many years but unfortunately the cost of equipment has prevented me from making my dream a reality.
