Heather's fund for wheelchair van
Donation protected
Please help Heather attain a wheelchair accessible van. Heather Rumph is my close friend and she is more like a sister to me. Heather is a beautiful person inside and out. She is very determined to accomplish her goals despite her obstacles. In 2004 on her last day of her junior year of high school, she was ran off the road. It was a hit and run car accident. Heather was ejected 81ft, resulting in breaking the front and back of her neck. Heather spent ten days in the ICU at The Medical Center of Central Georgia. She was then sent to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, where she spent two weeks in ICU. Heather stayed at The Shepherd center for a total of four months. The accident left Heather an incomplete c4-c5 quadriplegic. Heather came home paralyzed, but she continued school and graduated with her class. Heather wants to be a Rehabilitation psychologist and work at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Heather was going to school, but had to stop because of her transportation needs. The motor on the van has blown up. Heather’s only form of transportation is gone. Heather has doctor's appointments, therapy, and she truly wants to go to school again. They drive to the Shepard center is almost two hours and two back home. She also goes to Warm Springs which is over an hour. Heather goes to the Cantrell Center, which is closer to home. The Cantrell center cost more because the health insurance doesn't cover as much as Warm springs. The van is the only means of transportation for Heather. Please, if you can give anything to help Heather.
