Unexpected Funeral Costs and Continued Support for Anne

Hello, my name is Sarah Verhoef, and I’m reaching out again on behalf of my incredible sister-in-law, Anne and our family. Last December, Anne’s life changed forever when she was shot in the face at point-blank range. Despite enduring unimaginable trauma, Anne has shown remarkable resilience, fighting every day to recover and rebuild her life.

Anne’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. She has already undergone multiple surgeries and extensive rehabilitation, inspiring everyone around her with her strength and determination. However, her fight is far from over. Anne still needs several more surgeries, and most critically, a new prosthetic eye to help her regain a sense of normalcy and confidence.

This past year has been incredibly challenging for Anne and our family. On top of everything, just after the one-year anniversary of the shooting, her beloved father, Grandpa Rick, suffered a massive heart attack and tragically passed away. Losing her dad has been an emotional blow for Anne and all of her family and has made her journey even more difficult.

Grandpa Rick was an amazing and big-hearted man. He was known for his generosity and kindness, often giving to others the very last he had. His passing has left an enormous void in our family. Funeral details are pending as this was unexpected and very sudden. His wife, Arnell, is now the one left to help care for Anne. They are struggling with the loss of this wonderful man as well as the financial burdens placed on them by unexpected funeral costs and Anne’s ongoing medical expenses.

Although insurance has been able to cover some of the costs, there is still so much more to go. The financial strain of Anne’s medical needs, combined with the added expenses of Grandpa Rick’s funeral, has become overwhelming.
