Help Con get a hospital bed for dialysis
For the last 3.5 weeks Con has been in hospital alone, with no support from me or anyone who loves him allowed to be there by his side. He is losing spirits and his positivity to keep fighting.
As many of you know, Con has spent a lifetime since he was 20 years old living on a dialysis machine every second day to keep him alive.
He has been through so many life-threatening situations over the years. A transplant that failed 19 years ago, 5 artery Bypasses on his heart, a heart attack at 29 and again at 35.
He has pulled through all of these including prostate cancer because of his strength and determination.
Con is now in hospital as all the heart procedures he has had have created scar tissue on his heart, which is causing it to beat out of rhythm and race at a dangerous rate. Since being in hospital he has had surgery to burn the scar tissues, the problem now is that his heart is not strong enough to keep itself in rhythm and is waiting to have a defibrillator inserted into his heart.
Due to the current situation the hospital he is in is inundated with Covid patients and they can’t keep up. His surgery for the defibrillator has now been cancelled 6 times!
Currently, we are both not working. Hopefully I have a job waiting for me once covid settles down, but unfortunately Con doesn’t. He was put off his full-time casual work and added to a ‘casual pool’, through no fault of his own. This means we will struggle more than ever.
I am a proud person, and never thought I would be here asking for help. I don’t like doing this, but our hands are tied when it comes to money. We have run out of options and don’t know what else to do.
A specially designed bed for dialysis patients and some equipment to make life easier would help move Con around when he is doing his 8 hours of dialysis when he is back home and would be a huge help to us both as I currently am having to get him up and down myself.
