Help Janine Lusk with Heart Transplant Expenses!
Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that I have to start this gofundme account for my wife Janine Lusk who is 38 y/o and our 2 children Jacob & Sofia. My wife had sought medical treatment in April 2015 for what they thought was bronchitis . After 3 rounds of antibiotics and a round of steroids she was admitted to the hospital. They performed a series of tests and found that the steroid that they had prescribed her knocked out her immune system completely allowing the virus to travel to her heart, enlarging it 4 sizes. They diagnosed her with Viral Cardiomyopathy Dilated with Severe functional mitral valve regurgitation leaving her heart functioning at 25%. Cardiologists have put Janine threw a series of medication titrations with no success and as time has led on her heart function had declined greatly leading her to require surgery implanting a Sub Q ICD on September 12th 2017.
With a continuing decline in her heart function, on Dec 7th 2018 Janine under went and completed her heart transplant evaluation at Mayo in Rochester, Mn. Her current heart function is at 17% listing her on Tier 4 of the UNOS heart transplant list. On Dec 21st the pre heart transplant team is scheduled to collaborate and determine if she will get a mechanical heart while she waits for a heart transplant because they are concerned that without mechanical medical intervention that she might not live long enough to recieve a donated heart.
Our family has been threw a lot of financial struggles since this has begun and with more frequent medical appointments at Mayo in Rochester, Mn I will have to take more unpaid time off work due to being Janine's primary caregiver. On top of everyday living expenses, the cost of travel, lodging and food while seeking her medical treatments. the costs are exceeding our financial capabilities. Once a transplant takes place we will be required to reside away from home at Mayo in Rochester, Mn for 3 months straight while recovering from surgery.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any donations and or prayers would be greatly appreciated! God bless!
