Help Johnathan fight brain cancer

Donation protected
My name is Nicole, and I am fund raising for my brother Johnathan to help him fight brain cancer.

Meet my brother Johnathan, Lego enthusiast and father of 2 beautiful, little girls Aurora (6) and "babygirl" due in March 2024. Johnathan has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Astrocytoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer, and is not suitable for the standard pathway of treatment here in the U.K.

When his cancer was found, they tried their best to remove as much as possible, but in doing so they damaged some of Johnathan’s thinking pathways that allow him to make his own decisions. This means that his Oncologist will not introduce him to radiotherapy (the most effective treatment option for his Cancer) or clinical trials that could give him a fighting chance, because he is unable to consent to the potentially gruelling treatment, and this is not a decision someone else can make for him. Johnathan is left to take oral chemotherapy to help inhibit the growth of cancer cells, but eventually these cells will mutate and grow resistant. At this point, he will be out of options.

We have found Clinical Trials that include the use of complex magnetic stimulation that attack and destroy this aggressive tumour without being invasive, but they use radiotherapy – which Johnathan is not a candidate for. We have found the same treatment without radiation, but it is not available on the NHS – we must apply privately. We have also found other treatments that will help extend Johnathan’s life with the use of ‘Immunotherapy’, using his own immune system to create a vaccine that will help teach his body to fight the cancer on it’s own. But, until the UK healthcare system officially approves this treatment, it is not available in the U.K or on the NHS, meaning we must travel abroad and pay for this treatment privately.

Johnathan’s brain cancer is advanced, so any and all treatment is urgent to ensure we have the best chance at maximising quality of life and length of life. We must act immediately to give him the chance he deserves.

We need your help – every small donation will help cancer experts save my brother, and give him a fighting chance at seeing his baby girls grow up. We are ready to fight this disease with everything we have! Help us give Johnathan time with his family, time to see his daughters grow up, time to live beyond his initial prognosis. Help us give him time.

• We have set our goal at an initial number of £20,000 - £17,500 for one month's ‘Optune’ treatment - with a view to continue this if we see progress, and the remainder toward related costs like travel and accommodation.

Any and all donations, big or small, will be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please share this page and help spread our message.

Johnathan and his daughter Aurora, before health complications

Johnathan after surgery #2 within 10 days

_____________________________________________________
Johnathan suffers from a rare genetic disorder, Neuro-Fibromatosis Type I, which means he has regular hospital checkups to investigate his health. In 2020, when Covid hit, Johnathan was housebound and, being a vulnerable adult, he was unable to attend any healthcare checkups. We believe this to be the start of the problems... Our Oncologist believes this tumor started as something innocent, and then turned sinister in recent months. Which explains the headaches, vomiting and loss of weight. In February 2022, Johnathan was diagnosed with pneumonia - a potentially deadly condition that usually hospitalises people. Johnathan soldiered on, as normal, not complaining. Trying to be an amazing Father to his disabled daughter.
