Let's help Padma with her kidney transplant

My name is Padma Lama , 29 years old, female from Chitwan, Nepal, studying masters in Tesol at University of South Australia. I have been recently diagnosed with severe renal failure and I can’t still believe that it has happened to me. Unfortunately, it is a bitter truth and don’t have any choice except facing it.

 

About my family background, I came from a middle class family and I lost my mum too early. So life has been always a sad and hard for me. However I always had my father and sister who have been encouraged me to pursue for better future by studying hard. Despite of hurdles that made me so weak quite often, I decided to come to Australia in 2018 to study master degree.

 

In 2019, I was severely anemic and had to go through infusion therapy. Then I felt a bit better so I started working and studying as usual. And again I had severe iron deficiency in 2020, that time, the doctors were really concerned and referred me to specialist for further investigation. And after going through all the tests and investigations, they found out that I am in stage of renal failure however I was told by the specialist that I don’t need dialysis just yet however I was commenced on some medications to manage the symptoms with regular follow up with nephrologist. And I got advised to continue to study and work as usual. Since I was taking medications and I was feeling better. However last 2-3 months , my health declined so rapidly and my latest report came out that I will be needing kidney transplants very soon. It was really devastating news for me and for my family. I also enquired about the cost for the treatment in Australia because I still have study to complete but it came out to be more than $300k for international students like me. It is huge amount of money and almost impossible to get the finance organised. So My family also enquired in Nepal at grandy hospital and it will cost around NRs.35 lakhs if there is a donor. My father and sister are willing to donate a kidney if they are the compatible match. But still the financial problem would be hindering my treatment in Nepal too as my father already had spent all of his savings for my study here. He just retired last year and we don’t have a lot of assets. So to have my treatment in Nepal is only possible, if everyone supports me by donating a small amount whatever they could. So I would like to request you all to donate whatever you could to save my life. And, I want to live my life and it’s only possible with your donation/help. Furthermore, I also want to complete my degree and have a graduation which I have dreamt from my childhood .I have a little ray of hope that you all may help me and make me able to live and be healthy again.

 

I wish and pray to god that nobody has to go through this sort of health issues in the young age like me because it makes you feel so depressed and hopeless in a sense. So, please please help me to live and support me by donating whatever you can.
