Tammy Pope Lung Transplant Recovery
Donation protected
Almost 2-1/2 years out now from double lung transplant surgery, and everything about her new lungs seem to be doing well and looking good. Her numbers and her levels are all about where they need to be, with only minimal fluctuation. The same can't be said about the rest of her, as the anti-rejection meds are very tough on her body, as you may can imagine, no immune system only amplify the effects.. She's experiencing significant amounts of pain at times, due to the avascular necrosis and the arthritis that has taken over in her knees, hips, elbows, and other joints, as well as in her back. We still travel back and forth to UAB-Birmingham at least once a month, if not more, but also, we're seeing pain specialists here local in an effort to find her some relief..
The once a month IGG Infusions she has to have, to try to boost some of her immune sytem proves to be a rough few days for her each month as well..
She's had one hip surgery already, back in August of this year, and scheduled to have the other hip done soon.. She also is having nerve blocks done in her back every few months..
Also, we're sheduled to see a Hemotologist back at UAB, for issues concerning her being very anemic, as her red blood cells arent co-operating and she's not making blood like she's supposed to.., in addition, her creatinine levels being high and kidney function not what it should be..(due mostly to anti-rejection meds)..
This time in our lives is all still so overwhelming, physically, emotionally, and mostly financially have sunk us into a position like we've never experienced.
We're reaching out once more for help, as we desperately need donations, mainly the funds needed to make purchases for materials necessary to make the repairs needed get back in our home, as well as cover overwhelming day to day cost of living expenses.
I'm still her 24/7 care taker, and probably will be for the rest of her days, meaning, i'm unable to work a regular job to generate steady income.
We haven't lived in our home since transplant, Sept. 2, 2015, but upon return from the hospital stay from surgery, have had to rent a clean, safe place for her (us) to stay, because until our house is fixed, Tammy can't be inside for more than a few minutes at a time, due to the circumstances caused by the years of hoarding by her parents, and the neglect of maintenance and repair, (roof leaks), mold, mildew, and such..
As you can imagine, with all of our other expenses, paying rent doesn't help out much..
We had gotten started on our home rehab project, and we've got a good bit of stuff bought and paid for, and in storage, but we've run out of finances, and things have since came to a halt once more.., and we've still got a long way to go..
We need help in an urgent way, and i believe if we can share this with enough people, and it gets in the right spots, we can surely meet, or even exceed our goals, which would be such a blessing.
If you feel led in your heart to give, please do, or if you have any ideas on fundraising, or know someone else, or group or organization that can help, please share and spread the word!
There are fees associated with GoFundMe, so if you'd like to donate a different way, we do have PayPal, log in at [email redacted], or you can go to any BankPlus location and request deposit straight into the "Tammy Pope Special Account".
If you're not able to help, that's ok too, we totally understand, and pray God blesses you just the same.., just share with as many folks as you can..
Thank you, and may God bless you and your families!
