Building the Whilde School ~ Fundraiser

My name is Jessica Ireland, and I am the Founder and the Headmaster of the Whilde School, a forty student private homeschool program located in Yarmouth, Maine focusing on the whole child.
I am a firm believer that the whole student needs to be considered when approaching their academic support. For the past five years I have been creating a Whole Child Education program where I take a holistic approach towards developing the intellectual, emotional, physical, social and spiritual aspects of my students.
I also believe that every student has an untapped wealth of potential within them, just waiting for the right opportunity to bring it out and I know the Whilde School is that opportunity! We have countless examples of success stories where we have been able to reach students that others have not been able to reach.
We are at an exciting time in our programs development, but I need your help. We recently rebranded our name to the Whilde School which stands for Whole Child Education and have secured a long-term space located at 25 Yarmouth Crossing Drive for our program. We are currently setting up the Whilde School to be a non-profit, run by a Board of our students’ parents. Our new space will emulate a one room schoolhouse where we support students from grades 2 - 12.
25 Yarmouth Crossing Drive was recently a manufacturing plant and is all cement and bricks. It is located right off of Main Street in Yarmouth and it sits next to the Royal River Park where our students spend many outdoor hours learning and playing. It is a perfect location for the long-term growth of our program.
We have a lot of work to do to convert it to a beautiful school. The largest expense is it requires a fire alarm and sprinkler system along with a handicap bathroom. We also need to frame out the walls and put rugs in to soften the sound, create a garden area and build out the Ed Molloy Reading Room along with plants and fencing. We will do as much of the work ourselves through volunteers and our own sweat and labor and we are financing as much as we can ourselves.
However, this is a big financial undertaking for a small nonprofit business. We are raising the money so that we can finish the project before the Academic Year starts in September.
