Help a Cancer Survivor Rebuild

Donation protected
My mom is ready to start over after beating an aggressive cancer and needs just a little help, so we’re hoping you can join her journey. She won’t let us down! Listen to this: She was a paralegal my entire life providing well for our family with hard work and love. She never complains and is a positive force everyone can count on. She was diagnosed with "triple positive" (who came up with that title?!) breast cancer five years ago. She continued to work full time during treatment, (even commuting by bus adding 2 hours every day)--through surgery, chemo, radiation (25 in 27 days) and more chemo (a lot more), and the pandemic! She received excellent reviews, raises and a promotion during this time. She was asked to speak at a big work function to tell her story (she did with a background video of her hair's journey). And then, my mom was fired.... and, worse, could not find a new job. This is a woman that employers wooed, who could write best sellers about her own casework and her personal part in them (“but there's that darn confidentiality thing'" she'd smile), who never didn’t get the job. She was told she was "blacklisted," and employers "are afraid of the 'cancer stigma.'" No way--is that even a thing today? Seems so! She got an email from a job hunter that said (no joke) "You have applied to your 101st job! No offers yet?" My mom lost it and it took her a minute to pick herself up. But in true Erin style, she decided to redefine herself as a small motor carrier!" My mom? A Trucker?! She'd be her own boss, she explained, and bring professionalism, honesty and positivity to the trucking industry-- and see the countryside (not having any vacation since diagnosis). It really does make sense. So, my mom did it right. She (of course) researched, sought legal and CPA advisors, set up her own LLC, and jumped through all the many DOT/FMCSA/state regulations and got her own authority. I helped her buy a truck, she signed up with load boards, and then, last week, her "guaranteed microloan" fell through! Unphased, she applied for many other business grants, loans, etc., but even SBA loans take a couple months and loans for "startups" want a year of bank statements. Her credit dropped dramatically just for all the applications that were declined. She’s so close, yet so far. So, I'm asking for your help. She needs enough for the trailer and insurance down. It is a lot of money ($4,400), but she's covered everything else. She's authorized to hit the road today (her first legal Day One). Please, if you want to help a great person whose example we could (should) follow move forward -- my mom needs your help! She always says, "God helps those who help themselves," and "Pray to God but row for shore." And with cancer we hear her saying even more, "There are much better people in this world who have it much worse." To her, it's all true. But I keep looking for those better people. She is one. And if you know her, you know that too. She is tough but humble. If able, please help--you'll feel good, it's a great cause, she won't let you down, and every bit helps. Thank you.
